The aim of the invention is to provide a power switch which can be used in a universal manner with the lowest possible costs. To this end, the invention provides a power switch which has a switch mechanism (4) that can be actuated, remotely released, or self-released by means of an operating lever (3) attached thereto. Said switch mechanism acts on at least one contact (6). The power switch (1) is divided in a kit-type manner into a base module (5) for accommodating the contact (6) and into a separate add-on module (2) which serves to support at least the operating lever (3). Both modules can be optionally assembled in different relative positions with regard to one another. The inventive power switch which is divided in a kit-type manner can be a remotely controlled supplementary switch for use as an add-on to a circuit-breaker or can be the self-releasing circuit-breaker itself.
