X-ray tube with heated grid

The X-ray tube has an evacuated envelope (3) containing a grid (8) which is heated to the required operating temperature via electron radiation, by positioning the grid in the vicinity of the back scattered electrons from the anode (2). The grid has an associated solid screening body (11), which is thermically coupled to the grid in front of it in the path of the direction electron radiation from the cathode (1). Preferably, the grid is arranged in a continuous central evacuate recess (6) of the anode which is cooled from the back. The solid screening/body is connected thermically with the grid by radiation coupling and direct conductive connection.
