The beaded rims (16) of the steel sleeve (10) at both ends are angled down by more than 90 degrees relative the sleeve casing and at the ends the plastics ball cage (12) forms an inside cone at its outer circumference. The beaded rim forms an angle of 100-110 degrees with the continuation of the casing so the rim thus portends less than 0.8 mm beyond the inside surface of the sleeve casing. Typically the balls (14) are held in cage wall slots (18) and limited both ends by shoulders (20,22), using one continuous slot (24) to allow the cage to be compressed for easier insertion. In practice, the sleeve of 1.0 mm wall thickness has an outside diameter of 23 mm and an inside diameter of 19.5 mm where the rims (16) limit the opening, giving a rim cantilever of 0.75 mm from the inside sleeve surface. The beaded sleeve is first hardened and the ball-fitted cage then inserted so as to clip into the sleeve between its reduced ends.
|
