The invented apparatus is formed by a portable communication unit (108) having a high-frequency receiver (804) and a response high-frequency transmitter (852) with an output for transmitting signals of back acknowledgement, and it operates within a radio communication system (100) comprising a radio search terminal (102) and a plurality of communication cells (50) containing one or more cellular transmitters (104) being provided with an output for generating an information signal containing an information message and a bit synchronization code including a predetermined color code word in the first part of the bit synchronization code. The portable communication unit contains a 4-level to binary translator (814) that is connected with the high-frequency receiver, a synchronization co-regulator (818) being connected with said 4-level to binary translator (814) and containing a generator of color code word combinations and a color code decoder (1340) that is interconnected with said generator of color code word combinations, a reporting element (856) being connected with the synchronization co-regulator (818) and response high-frequency transmitter and having an output for generation of back acknowledgement signal that contains a reported value of the color code.
