PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation in image quality by dropping of a toner to a transfer material while keeping the separating performance of the transfer material by providing a vibrating means for vibrating a separation claw, and setting the vibration frequency of the separation claw so as to have a specified relation with the toner density, the width of the separation claw and the rotating speed of an image carrier. SOLUTION: A separation claw 7 separates a transfer material 9 which could not be separated by a separation first electrifer 5 or a separation second electrifier 6. A separation claw vibrating device 13 vibrates the separation claw 7. In order to effectively vibrate the separation claw 7 having such a structure, the condition of x (Hz)>=3 mαv/4πr3βis satisfied as the condition of vibration or as the vibration frequency of the separation claw 7, wherein m (mg/mm2): the toner density on an image carrier 1 in the position of the separation claw 7,α(mm): the width of the separation claw 7, v (mm/s): the rotating speed of an image carrier 1, r (mm): the allowable dripping radius of the toner,β(mg/mm3): the specific gravity of the toner.
