PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silicone rubber which does not cause discoloration and exhibits a good antibacterial performance by subjecting (A) an unsatd. organopolysiloxane and (B) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane to addition reaction in the presence of a silver-contg. antibacterial agent and a platinum catalyst contg. no halogen. SOLUTION: Reactant A has an average compsn. represented by formula I (wherein R is methyl, ethyl, or the like; and 1.9<a<=2.1), has vinyl groups at its molecular ends, and has a structure represented by formula II (wherein R and R' are each a monovalent hydrocarbon group). Reactant B is used as a crosslinker, has at least two≡SiH groups in one molecule, and undergoes the addition reaction with alkenyl groups, i.e., unsatd. groups of reactant A, to give a cured item having rubber elasticity. The reaction is shown by formula III. A platinum-phosphorus complex having a Pt content of 1 ppm or higher but 100 ppm or lower is used as the platinum catalyst. An example of the antibacterial agent is a silver-carrying zeolite.
