PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage or abrasion of a belt and a pulley even if dust, a pebble or the like is bitten during the running of the belt and to allow air to escape from grooves so as to make the friction sound between the belt and the pulley escape from grooves. SOLUTION: In a method for producing a V-ribbed belt by vulcanizing a cylindrical unvulcanized belt sleeve having a core wire embedded in the rubber layer thereof, a rope 5 or a screen fabric is wound around a cylindrical split mold 12 having rib grooves carved therein in the peripheral direction thereof and the respective materials constituting the V-ribbed belt are laminated thereon and the whole is subsequently pressed and heated to push the rope 5 or the screen fabric in the mold to perform vulcanization and, after vulcanization, the split mold is folded inside to take out a molded sleeve and, further, the rope or screen fabric is removed to obtain a product having a predetermined number of ribs cut therein as the V-ribbed belt.
