PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a detection sensitivity of an X-ray surface sensor for detecting a transmission X-ray image suitable for the volume of incident X-rays. SOLUTION: In this radiography instrument, an applied voltage source 31 changes voltages to be applied to plural groups of X-ray detecting elements, which are set inside a panel type X-ray sensor 3, by the group based on the control by an applied voltage control part 32. The applied voltage control part 32 controls the voltages to be applied according to the level of strength of X-ray detection data outputted from the plural groups of X-ray detecting elements when X-rays are irradiated from an X-ray tube 2. Therefore, the detection sensitivity of the X-ray detecting elements in each group is made appropriate, so that the halation of a transmission X-ray image can be prevented and the quality of the image can be improved.
