PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery having extremely satisfactory efficient charging and discharging performance by using a collector having satisfactory electrical conductivity and an excellent welding property by resistance welding. SOLUTION: A copper plate (or a copper alloy plate), having 0.3 mm of thickness, to which nickel plating is performed at 0.01 mm of thickness is punched by a punching die with the feeding of the punching die so as to form a nearly circular main body part 11 and a nearly rectangular collector lead part 12 extended from the main body part 11, and an electrolyte filling opening 12, slits 14, 14, multiple openings 15, 15 and a through-hole 17 are formed by punching so as to form a positive electrode collector 10a. An end 16 of the collector lead part 12 of the positive electrode collector 10a is caused to make contact with a bottom part of a lid body 51, and the bottom part of the lid body 51 and the end 16 of the collector lead part 12 are connected to each other through resistance welding.
