PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new inorganic conductor exhibiting high proton conductivity by specifying a composition. SOLUTION: This bismuth-dissolved solid antimonic acid is represented by the formula: HSb1-xBixO3-x.nH2O. From the viewpoint of proton conductivity, (x) and (n) are limited to 0(x)<0. 5 and 0<(n)<10, respectively. The bismuth- dissolved solid antimonic acid, for example, the press-molded product of antimonic acid powder containing about 10 mol.% of bismuth exhibits an excellent proton conductivity of >=10-3 S/cm under conditions having a relative humidity of 70% at room temperature. The steam or hydrogen gas partial pressure dependency of the proton conductivity can be controlled by thus changing the amount of the dissolved Bi. The bismuth-dissolved solid antimonic acid is easily synthesized, for example, by a method using a solution containing a Sb alkoxide and a Bi alkoxide or a method comprising dissolving metal Sb in hydrogen peroxide and adding a bismuth alkoxide to the solution.
