PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a push button switch having a backlight capable of uniform and clear display and formed in a thin and compact shape. SOLUTION: A light emitting diode 9 is arranged in almost horizontal under a liquid crystal plate 4 for a push button switch with a display having a liquid crystal display on an operation button 1. A light guide plate 6 is formed of a translucent member with a recess 7, where the light emitting diode 9 is arranged, and a shading plate 8 is formed at least on the upper face of the light emitting diode 9.
