PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscopic instrument which can control generation of rush current without complicated processes when the power source device of the main body and the endoscope part are connected, and which can reduce power consumption of the power source device. SOLUTION: A resistor 114 is connected between a pair of connecting terminals 108A and 108B of the connector part 108 on the endoscope side. A primary power source part is structured to supply electricity to an image processing part and a power source for a lamp by way of a first switch. A secondary power source part is structured to supply electricity to the endoscope part 100 by way of a second switch. A power source part for a detection circuit supplies electricity directly to a first connection detecting circuit 218 and a switch control circuit 222. The switch control circuit 222 controls the on/off of the first switch and the second switch based on the detection signals inputted by the first and second connection detecting circuits 218 and 220.
