PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the power amplifier of a simple configuration acting over a wide frequency band regardless of a simple configuration. SOLUTION: An output stage drive circuit driving transistors (TRs) 22, 32 of an output stage circuit is driven by a push-pull circuit consisting of TRs 21, 53 and a push-pull circuit consisting of TR5 31, 63. A bias voltage generating circuit 70 generates bias voltages ER1, ER2 so that the TRs 53, 63 are in class C operation close to a class B operation. When the TR 21 switches the TR 22 from ON to OFF, the TR 53 is conductive to discharge a carrier stored in the TR 22 resulting in quickly turning off the TR 22. Thus, the power amplifier is simply in operation over a wide frequency band.
