GLASS CULLET MASS USED AS SUBSTITUTE OF NATURAL STONE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize glass cullet by bonding mixed glass cullets with a fiber-containing adhesive. SOLUTION: An adhesive obtained by including 5-30 wt.% glass fiber or ceramic fiber into an epoxy-based, urethane-based or acryl-based resin can be used as adhesive for bonding various kinds of mixed glass cullets 1. A mixed ratio of the glass cullets 1 to the fiber-containing adhesive is preferably (100:3) to (100:8). Since the glass cullets 1 are bonded between these faces, spaces 2 are formed to impart water permeability to glass cullet and as a result, water- purifying action can be imparted to the cullet. The purifying action becomes more effective by mixing these cullets with charcoal 3. Various kinds of mixed glass cullets 1 are put in a mold and melted at high temperature, preferably about 600-1,000 deg.C melting temperature to provide glass cullet mass. The resultant glass cullet mass is crushed to provide glass cullet having 10-20 cm size and used as a substitute for stone.
