PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sterilization capable of sterilizing a food material by irradiating low energy electron beams on the surface of the food material with a little amount of irradiation and in a homogeneous manner, and to provide a rotating device to be used for the sterilization. SOLUTION: When a food material is sterilized, the food material of a sample is allowed to rotate on an inclined sample tray on which vibration is applied at least in the longitudinal direction and allowed to roll down continuously, and further when the sample is rolling down, low energy electric beams having energy of 160-300 keV are irradiated on the surface of the sample to continuously sterilize the food material. The continuously rotating device to be used for the sterilization comprises the following units: a sample tray 1; a vibrator 2 having a tray table of an adjustable height; a vibrator 3 having a tray table of a fixed height; a shaker 4 having a tray table of a fixed height; power switches 5, 6 and 7, and speed controllers 8, 9 and 10 for actuating the vibrators and the shaker; a sample feeder 11 for feeding the sample to the sample tray; and a controller 12 with a switch for actuating the sample feeder.
