SOLUTION: This new L-α-glycerophosphate oxidase gene encodes an amino acid sequence of the formula and is useful for producing an enzyme usable as an enzyme for clinical examination and reagent, suitable for measuring lipase activity and determining triglyceride, glycerol, ATP, etc. The gene is obtained by varying a part of an L-α-glycerophosphate oxidase gene derived from Enterococcus faecium No.7044 (FERM P-16,998) by a genetic engineering method, incorporating the gene into Escherichia coli to give a transformant, culturing the transformant, selecting a strain having more excellent thermostability and reactivity than a conventional enzyme in the culture product and recovering its DNA.
