PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video printer whereby special color printing can be enjoyed readily at home. SOLUTION: This printer comprises a main memory 6 for storing image information to be printed normally and image information to be printed in special color, a special color recording data memory 7, a binarization conversion part 8 for binarizing the special color printing image information, a data- synthesizing/processing circuit 9 for synthesizing the normal image information and binarized special color image information, a signal-processing circuit 8 for carrying out a predetermined signal-processing on the basis of the normal printing image information and special color printing image information, a head-driving circuit 13 for driving a head 14 on the basis of signals subjected to the signal-processing, a CPU 1 for executing normal printing and special color printing on the basis of printing mode information, and the like. When a special color printing mode is selected, normal printing is first carried out, a recording paper is kept waiting at a record position when the normal printing is finished, it is detected while in the wait state that a special color printing ink is set, and the special color printing is conducted. |
