PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the further thinning of a device by including a drive circuit part for driving a picture element electrode provided every display picture element in the electrode plate of a display panel, forming a light guide plate so that the other end surface opposed to one end surface thereof is thinner than the one end surface, and arranging a drive circuit board along the end surface orthogonal to the one end surface of the light guide plate. SOLUTION: A drive circuit board is arranged along the circumference of the longitudinal signal line drive circuit-side end surface of a liquid crystal panel 100. Namely, the drive circuit board is arranged along the end surface orthogonal to one end surface 821C (for arranging a tubular light source 811) of a light guide plate 821. The drive circuit board is miniaturized and thinned by constituting a part of the drive circuit board integrally with an array substrate. Since the drive circuit board attained in such a miniaturization or thinning is arranged along the longitudinal direction of the liquid crystal panel 100 or the signal line drive circuit, the total thickness of the device can be sufficiently reduced.
