PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device for an endoscope which can achieve heat radiation by a light source lamp with a simple structure and at a low cost and which can prevent light from escaping to the outside of the device. SOLUTION: A light source lamp 3 set near the center of the box-type main body 4 of this device supplies illuminating light to a light guide connector of an endoscope connected to a light guide connector connecting part 12 in front of the lamp 3. The light source lamp 3 is cooled by a first fan 23 and a second fan 24 on one side of the light source lamp 3 with blowing air to the other side of the light source lamp 3. The blowing air, passing through an air vent 25 formed on a side panel 15a of a lamp holder 15 and an air vent 28 formed on a side panel 27 of a lid board 18, is exhausted from air vents 26 and 29 on the outer shell member facing to the outside of the air vent 28 to the outside of the box-type main body 4. And the air vents 25 and 26, and 28 and 29, which are opposite to each other, are formed so that the light shielding parts are alternate, so the light of the light source lamp 3 will not escape to the outside of the box-type main body 4.
