<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air booster that is simpler in construction and assembly than ones known and is thus inexpensive to manufacture and easy to maintain. SOLUTION: When the air that a left air supply passage 60a leads into a left booster chamber 54a is forced by a spool valve 64 into a left drive chamber 55a defined by a piston 56, and the air in a right drive chamber 55b is expelled out via an exhaust pipe 74, the piston 56 together with its left and right booster rods 57a and 57b is slid rightward to compress the air in a right booster chamber 54b before it is let out via a right boost air output passage 61b. Once the spool valve 64 is changed over from that position to force the air that a right air supply passage 60b leads into the right booster chamber 54b next into the right drive chamber 55b, and the air in the left drive chamber 55a is let out via the exhaust pipe 74, the piston 56 together with its left and right booster rods 57a and 57b is slid leftward to compress the air in the left booster chamber 54a before it is expelled out via A left boost air output passage 61a.</p> |
