PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read and write information on a magnetic recording layer applied on a photographic film or an IC memory mounted on a film cartridge and to provide a device suitable for reading/writing the information and a device for utilizing the information. SOLUTION: The film cartridge housing the developed photographic film 124 on which the magnetic recording layer is applied is used, the photographic film 124 is fed from the film cartridge, information in relation to respective frames is read and written on the magnetic recording layer during feeding of the film, further the frame image is read out of the photographic film 124 and the frame image is displayed on a video monitor 119. While seeing the frame image displayed on the video monitor 119, information in relation to the frame image can be inputted to facilitate information input at an operation part 46. At the time of reproducing the frame image, the frame image is automatically controlled based on various kinds of read-out information and further the read-out information is displayed together with the frame image and thereby various kinds of information recorded in relation to the frame image can be easily confirmed.
