PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid acid catalyst and its producing method having higher activity than that in the case used in transformation reaction such as the isomerization of hydrocarbon. SOLUTION: In this method for producing a solid acid catalyst, particles comprising a metal-containing hydroxide and/or a metal-containing oxide containing a platinum group metal but not containing a sulfate radical are mechanically mixed with particles comprising a part not containing a platinum group metal and having the function of a solid acid catalyst to obtain the objective solid acid catalyst. In this case, the metal-containing hydroxide and/or the metal-containing oxide preferably contains at least one metal selected from the groups III and IV metals and the iron group metals.
