PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to efficiently adsorb and deodorize smell source organic matters such as an aldehyde and pyridine by forming a deodorizing layer containing a substance which could form the aldehyde and a Schiff base and an inorganic adsorbent, in a surface decorative material for a building interior member composed of various kinds of materials. SOLUTION: A deodorizing layer containing a substance which could form an aldehyde and a Schiff base and an inorganic adsorbent are formed in the decorative material to be applied to a wood material such as a particle board, an inorganic material such as a gypsum board and a member such as a synthetic resin member. Thus the deodorizing layer scavenges and deodorizes the aldehyde as a small source and at the same time, scavenges organic matters such as a pyridine and an acetic acid. The substance which could form the aldehyde and the Schiff base is particularly defined but a mixture of one kind or two or more kinds of chemical compounds containing a hydrazide group or an amino group in a molecule, is regarded as the substance. The inorganic adsorbent is such as an activated china clay, an acidic china clay, a silica gel or zeolite.
