PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge concentrated liquid possibly causing adhesion of scale or corrosion smoothly by exchanging heat with supply liquid and delivering generated secondary steam using a spiral heat exchanger and making an opening for discharging concentrated liquid on the waterline. SOLUTION: The steam generator 1 comprises a spiral heat exchanger 2 and has a generated steam outlet 3 at an upper part. Steam from a boiler, or the like, is introduced from a heating medium inlet 4 to the heating medium side of the spiral heat exchanger 2 and discharged from a heating medium outlet 5. Supply liquid is supplied from a liquid introduction passage 7 to the inlet 8 of the steam generator 1 and subjected to heat exchange with heating side steam to generate steam which is delivered from the generated steam outlet 3 and discharged from a liquid discharge opening 10 made on the waterline (steam generating plane) 9. Since the liquid discharge opening is made on the waterline, generated steam can be discharged immediately after concentration. Consequently, causes of scaling or corrosion can be eliminated as much as possible and the liquid can be discharged smoothly.
