ELECTRODELESS DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING DEVICE AND LIGHTING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless metal halide discharge lamp lighting device and a lighting system, capable of obtaining satisfactory light emitting efficiency and coupling level by considering the relative arrangement of an exciting coil and a discharge container. SOLUTION: An electrodeless discharge lamp 1 is provided with a fire- resistant radiation transmitting discharge container 1a which is sealed air tightly with a light-emitting medium inside thereof. In this case, this electrodeless discharge lamp 1 is provided with an exciting coil 1b provided with a minimum separation distance of 0.2-1.25 mm from the outer surface of the electrodeless discharge lamp and for supplying electrical energy to the light-emitting medium inside of the discharge container for causing generation of the light emission arc.
