PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely recover refrigerant without discharging it outside, by operating a compressor while a second on-off valve is closed at time of recovering the refrigerant, closing a first on-off valve after the lapse of a given time to stop the operation of the compressor, and recovering the refrigerant to a refrigerating circuit between the first and the second on-off valves. SOLUTION: In the case of recovering used refrigerant at the time such as of scrapping a refrigerator 1, firstly, a compressor 2 is kept operated with an on-off valve 9 being closed to have the compressor 2 compressed the refrigerant. Then, the compressed refrigerant is condensed by a condenser 3, and the condensed refrigerant is stored in the condenser 3 or a pipe line 8 on the way to the on-off valve 9. After the lapse of a given time, for example, after the lapse of approximately 30 minutes, when a pressure gauge 10 substantially indicates 0 or near 0, the operation of the compressor 2 is stopped by closing an on-off valve 7. Thus, the refrigerant is recovered to a pipe line 6 between the on-off valves 7, 9, the condenser 3, the pipe line 8, or the like. The recovered refrigerant is further recovered to a refrigerant recovery bomb of an outside recovery equipment which is connected to the pipe line 8 between the on-off valves 7, 9.
