PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure to be integrated in the substrate of an LCD suitably for measuring the position of contact between the substrate and one part of human body. SOLUTION: Respective plural cells of a liquid crystal display device for providing a touch input function are provided with a first substrate to integrate a common electrode 28, a second substrate 24 to integrate a pixel electrode and liquid crystal materials arranged between the common electrode and pixel electrode. A first conductive layer (signal layer) and a second conductive layer (protecting plane layer) are integrated on the substrate and arranged between the first substrate and common electrode. The position of contact between the first substrate and a touch input device is determined by impressing a first signal to the signal layer. A second signal is impressed to the protecting plane layer so that capacitive coupling between the signal layer and common electrode is lowered. The second signal can be generated by scaling the amplitude of the first signal or shifting the phase.
