OPTICAL FIBER COLLIMATOR AS WELL AS OPTICAL MODULE AND OPTICAL AMPLIFIER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen loss and reduce a size by decreasing the juncture points in an optical amplifier. SOLUTION: An optical fiber collimator 1 is constituted by holding one end of a rare earth added optical fiber 3 in a ferrule 5 and providing the end of this ferrule 5 with a lens 2 for making the light transmitted from this rare earth added optical fiber 3 to parallel light beams. This collimator is used as the optical amplifier. The mode field diameter at the end of the rare earth added optical fiber 3 is preferably expanded.
