PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a means which enables uniformly drying of a solid based slurry. SOLUTION: A clearance 9 is made at an upper part of a heating drum 2 to provide a non-heating top roller 3. The top roller 3 has a width W smaller than the width W of the heating drum, has a small-diameter part 3c, a tapered part 3d and a shaft part 3e at both ends thereof and is supported by a bearing 7 that allows adjusting of the axis position thereof. Slurry is supplied to an upper part of the top roller 3, transferred onto a heating drum 2 passing through the clearance 9, and raked off as the drum 2 makes almost one turn. The slurry is dried being transferred onto the heating drum while the width W of the top roller 3 is kept as intact. Thus, even when evaporated moisture is condensated into a dew near an end part of the top roller 3, water drops flow along a tapered part 3d and drop into a gutter 8.
