PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat-resistant solvent-soluble phosphor showing intense fluorescence and amenable to the regulation of a fluorescence wavelength by selecting a compound containing a specified amount of repeating units having a fluoroolefin ring, showing visible fluorescence in a solid state, and having a specific number-average molecular weight. SOLUTION: This phosphor is one containing at least one type of repeating units represented by the formula, having 50-100 mol%, based on the entire repeating units, such repeating units, having visible fluorescence in a solid state, and having a number-average molecular weight (in terms of PS) of 103 to 108. In the formula, Ar1 to Ar2 are each an arylene having 6-60 carbon atoms taking part in covalent bonds or a heterocyclic compound group having 4-60 such carbon atoms; R1 to R8 are each H, -(R11)1-(X)m-R12; R9 and R10 are each H, a 1-20C alkyl, a 6-60C aryl, a 4-60C heterocyclic compound group, or CN; n is 0 or 1; R11 is a 1-20C hydrocarbon group; R12 is R11, Ar1, or an alicyclic hydrocarbon group having 6-60 ring carbon atoms; X is -O-, -S-, -CO-, -CO-O- or -O-CO-; and l and m are each n.
