PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a key switch in a lower profile with a locking mechanism. SOLUTION: A locking mechanism 30 is provided for rotationally moving a cam plate 4 in response to insertion/removal of a key 6 in/from a key insert hole 5 to displace a plunger 3 operatively contacting the cam face of the outer periphery of the cam plate 4 in association with the rotational movement of the cam plate 4 and prevent the rotational movement of the cam plate 4 in the condition that the key is removed therefrom. The rotational movement locking mechanism 30 includes a locking member 31 displaceable in parallel to the rotational movement face of the cam plate 4 and springs 32, 33 for energizing the locking member 31 to a lock position of engagement with the cam plate 4. The locking member 31 has unlocking cam slopes 43, 44 for displacing the locking member 31 to an unlock position against the springs 32, 33 when contacting the key 6.
