PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an information recording medium having a coloring matter recording layer containing organic coloring matters in which light fastness is improved without deteriorating record generation properties. SOLUTION: The information recording medium is provided with a recording layer containing cyanine coloring matters capable of recording an information by laser beam on a base, and as the cyanine coloring matters, a cyanine coloring matter in which an electron acceptor represented by the formula is used as counter ion (anion). In the formula, X11 and X12 represent respectively and independently an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, =NR31 or =C32R33, (R31, R32 and R33 represent respectively and independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent), and R34, R35, R36 and R37 represent respectively and independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent, and at least one of R34, R35, R36 and R37 represents a substituent having anions. |
