PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform synchronization by performing control so as to execute synchronous oscillation with plural horizontal frequencies, causing the signal source of a synchronizing pulse to couple to the input of a phase detector, controlling an oscillator by processing a signal which expresses the phase difference between inputs, and controlling the gain of a processor corresponding to selected one. SOLUTION: A horizontal frequency oscillator and a deflection amplifier can be operated at plural frequencies, while using three phase-locked loops(PLL). In the first PLL 10, an input video display signal such as a standard definition NTSC signal, for example, is coupled to a synchronizing separator(SS), and a horizontal synchronizing signal component is separated by the SS. The frequency of a voltage-controlled oscillator(VCO) is divided. The frequency-divided oscillator signal is coupled to a phase detector(PD) 50 as a single input, and the separated synchronizing component is coupled to the second input. The phase error between the separated oscillator signal and synchronizing signal synchronizes the VCO 300 from the PD 50.
