PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a porous wall material, in which molding and solidifying are conducted without reducing the steam absorption of porous powder having no moldability and which displays an autonomous humidity-conditioning function. SOLUTION: A porous wall material combining hygroscopicity and moisture absorption characteristics without damaging porosity and having pores in nanometer order is manufactured by preparing and drying molded and solidified forms by utilizing the viscosity of a silica sol. Accordingly, a functional material autonomically having a humidity-conditioning function can be supplied without imparting energy from the outside by a capillary condensation phenomenon generated in pores in nanometer order by providing an energy-conservative porous solidified-form manufacture as a molding method making the strength of porous powder having no moldability and steam absorption coexist.
