PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To illuminate the floors of the uppermost step and a landing of stairs to descend the stairs safely by installing a floor material that transmits the light from an illuminating means and has an illumination part to be illuminated with the light on the uppermost step on the top of the stairs or the floor surfaces on the tread side of the stair of the landing. SOLUTION: This illuminated stairs 1 is provided with a light source 6 nearly at the middle position on the lower surface at an end part of the tread 3 of each step 2, and the upper surface of the tread 3 of the lower step is so illuminated with the light source 6 that a tip 31 part of the tread 3 is dark and its other part A is bright. A floor material 5 having an illumination part 52 is installed on the uppermost floor surface 4 on the top of the stairs 2. The floor material 5 has almost the same thickness and outside dimensions as those of the treads 3 which are plate members constituting the steps 2, and is provided with the elongate illumination part 52 made of a transparent resin material such as an acrylic resin at the middle part of base materials 51, 51 made of an elongate butt plate material. An LED element forming an illumination means is so installed at one end of the illumination part 52 that its optical axis is set in the same direction as that of the illumination part 52.
