PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handgrip with a decorativeness and a non-slipping function by providing a skin having the effect on a part or an overall surface of an outer surface of a front part of a barrel disposing an ink flow-out regulating mechanism. SOLUTION: The writing instrument 1 is a ballpoint pen comprising a plastic ink flow-out regulating mechanism 3 having a pectinated groove structure inserted fixedly into a front part of a cylindrical barrel 2 molded by injection molding of a polyolefin resin, a ballpoint pen tip mounted as a writing tip, and a writing tip 5 for feeding out an ink stored in a rear part of the barrel 2. A skin 21 is provided at a position except engaging parts 22, 23 with a cap 4 of a front part outer surface of the barrel 2 to mount the cap 4 to constitute the instrument 1. Here, the cap 4 covers the overall surface of the skin 21. In addition the skin 21 may be exposed from a rear end of the cap 4.
