PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the possibility of opportunity of an initializing process while avoiding occurrence of a sound offensive to the ear which is caused by the initializing process during a stop of an engine in a hybrid type automobile. SOLUTION: An electromagnetic clutch 2 is interposed between an internal combustion engine 1 and a transmission 3 having an input shaft directly coupled thereto with a first motor 4. A second motor 10 for starting an engine and for power generation is associated with a crankshaft 1a. The engine 1 incorporates an exhaust reflux control valve 13 using a step motor with which the exhaust recirculation rate can be variably changed. The engine 2 is rested in a low vehicle speed range while the vehicle is driven by the first motor 4. The engine 1 is restarted when the vehicle speed reaches a predetermined value. During restarting, the exhaust reflux control valve 13 is initialized. |
