PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a print method whereby print image data can be prevented from disappearing even when a logic page length is larger than a physical page length and a print quality can be improved. SOLUTION: A difference between a position of print image data developed earlier and a print position by a print head to a printing recording medium is set to be not larger than an override amount at all times. Before a paper detector detects a lower end of the printing recording medium (No in S704), the development is restricted so that the difference between the development position and print position does not increase to an initial value K of the override amount (a distance between the paper detector and print head, which is a constant value) or larger (S712). Image data to be printed to a next page can be surely prevented from being developed. After the paper detector detects the lower end of the printing recording medium (Yes in S704), printing is carried out while the override amount X (a variable an initial value of which is equal to the K) is calculated (S705 and the followings). The printing is accordingly possible up to a limit of the lower end of the printing recording medium.
