PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device for a window, capable of closing a window from the half-opened state easily and quickly. SOLUTION: This opening and closing device for a hinged window is fitted to the frame of a window. The device comprises an outer cylinder 1, an interposed member 2, a ratchet tooth, a ratchet claw, a resilient means, a first cam and a second cam, wherein the rear end of the ratchet claw is caused to get over the contact part of the resilient means by the rotation of the first cam and the second cam, and the device includes a lock releasing mechanism 12 for forcedly turning the ratchet claw to the non-engagement position.
