PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control an in-liquid-face dipped amount of a tip of a sample dispensing probe at the liquid face detection to the optimum value, and to enhance noise-proofness against a disturbance noise such as electrostatic discharge, by setting and controlling the optimum operational control value for kinds of respective sample containers and liquid levels inside the containers in the dispensing operation. SOLUTION: A bar-code reader serving for reading of sample information attached to a sample container 203a, and for detection of a kind of the sample container 203a and a rough liquid level inside the sample container 203a is assembled in an automatic analyzer. The bar-code reader conducts detection for a range to read a bar code 205 and for a vertical-directional range of a sample container 203a. A region portion exceeding a sample container determining level, that is, a height level of the sample container 203a is detected using a resulting detected signal to discriminate the kind of the sample container 203a. Then, a region portion exceeding a sample amount determining level, that is, a range of a liquid amount portion of a sample 204a inside the sample container 203a is specified to discriminate a liquid face position of the sample 204a. |
