PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect an abnormality of a tray and to suppress the increase of the cost even when a curved sheet is stored in the tray. SOLUTION: A sheet feeder is provided with a height detection sensor 204 and a post tray detection sensor 205. The height detection sensor 204 detects whether or not a highest sheet stored in a tray 10 is at a specified carrying height. The post tray detection sensor 205 detects whether or not a post tray is set, and when the tray 10 is used, no ON-signal is given regularly. However, when a curved sheet 3 illustrated in the figure is stored, a curved part of the sheet 3 is detected by the post tray detection sensor 205, and an abnormality is detected thereby. A failure of the sheet feeder attributable to the storage of the curved sheets can be prevented.
