摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the rise of internal pressure, and maintain safety by enabling efficient reaction to take place between oxygen generated at a positive electrode during a charging process, and hydrogen released from hydrogen storage alloy. CONSTITUTION:This electrode comprises an electrode material of powder state integrated with a substrate via a binder. In this case, the binder is caused to melt under an ultrasonic wave to such an extent as not covering the surface of the material excessively. Thereafter, the binder is dried and solidified for the integration of the electrode material with the substrate. At the manufacture process of the electrode, thermal treatment such as baking and sintering is not undertaken and, therefore, surface oxidation and a physical property change hardly takes place in the electrode material. As a result, the material becomes pertinent for use as a battery electrode or the like. Also, the material surface is not excessively covered with the binder and, therefore, a large effective surface area can be provided for an electrode. Accordingly, a utilization factor for hydrogen becomes large, and a large amount of electric current can be discharged.
