PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colorant for a liquid crystal display device capable of preventing non-uniform display due to a material kept is contact with the liquid crystal layer or the alignment layer and to provide a color filter substrate and a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: At least, one adsorbent selected from silica beads, multivalent metal ions, alumina beads and a polyimide is previously added to the photosensitive material forming a colored layer 24 of a liquid crystal display device. Org. impurities emitted from the colored layer 24 are prevented from entering a liquid crystal layer 70 and an alignment layer 30, and the non-uniform display and image persistence of the liquid crystal display device can be prevented.
