PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform specified print processing without depending on a page description language by storing received print data while translating them into intermediate data, which do not depend on any page description language, reading out the specified intermediate data and expanding them into bit map image. SOLUTION: A received data discriminating part 7 judges whether or not overlay(OL) data are included in received data from a host computer and when these data are included, the presence/absence of a command for recording the OL data in a printer system 2 is judged. When there is the OL data recording command, an image forming part 8 converts the OL data to display list (DL) data. When a RAM 10 is designated as the recording destination by the recording command, the OL data made into DL data are recorded in the RAM 10 by a recorder control part 9. Further, all the print data including the OL data made into DL are converted to bit map data and transmitted to an image printing part by the image forming part 8.
