PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber light source having high output and pumping efficiency. SOLUTION: An optical fiber light source is provided with an excitation light source 10' for outputting exciting light, a first optical fiber part erbium- doped optical fiber (EDF) I that is excited by the exciting light, a photocoupler 30 that is connected between the exciting light source 10 and the first optical fiber part EDF I and transfers the exciting light to the first optical fiber part EDF I, and a second optical fiber part EDF II that is connected to the input terminal of the first optical fiber part EDF I which is connected to the photocoupler 30 and utilizes natural emission light which is outputted from the first optical fiber part EDF I as an exciting source. Rearward ASE (spontaneous emission light) that is emitted from the exciting part EDF I and is useless is utilized as the exciting source of a non-exciting part EDF II and is converted into photon seed for amplification by the first optical fiber part EDF I, thus achieving high-output operation of a wideband optical fiber light source. |
