<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter having good surface flatness and enabling production of a color liquid crystal display device having excellent display quality and an easy and stable production method to produce the color filter. SOLUTION: The objective color filter 1 has a colored layer 5 and a resin pattern layer 4 which adheres to the side walls of the colored layer 5. The difference between the levels of the surface of the colored layer 5 and the surface of the resin pattern layer 4 can be made as small as <=0.3μm by the following production steps. In the 1st step, a photosensitive resist film is laminated on a transparent substrate 2, exposed and developed to form the resin pattern layer 4. In the 2nd step, a black matrix pattern 3 is formed between the transparent substrate 2 and the resin pattern layer 4. In the 3rd step, the surface of the transparent substrate 2 is coated with a colored photosensitive resin compsn. and the resultant coating film is exposed through a photomask with a prescribed pattern and developed. These operations of the 3rd step are repeated plural times corresponding to the required number of colors to form a colored layer 5 comprising plural colors on parts of the transparent substrate 2 where the resin pattern is not formed.</p> |
