PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discriminate which telephone set is making a ringing sound. SOLUTION: The method consists of a bell tone reception process where a bell tone signal from a bell tone server is received, an external bell tone input process where a bell tone signal from an external device is received, a bell tone recording process where either of the bell tone reception process and the external bell tone input process is selected, an input to a handset is shut off, and the bell tone signal is recorded by storing the bell tone signal to a bell tone storage section 120, a bell tone registration process where the recorded bell tones are sequentially outputted and a bell tone selected by the user is registered as an output bell tone, and a bell tone output process where the registered bell tone is outputted. In this case, bell tone signals received via a channel or bell tone signals received from an external device are recorded and registered as bell tones.
