OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTOR STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of connection of an optical fiber and to facilitate the exchange of the optical fiber itself by providing the structure with a ferrule to be fixed to the end region of the optical fiber via a lubricant and an adapter formed with a recessed part to be inserted with this ferrule. SOLUTION: The lubricant 5 is previously applied to the right end of the optical fiber 3. The right end of the optical fiber 3 is inserted into the ferrule 7. The ferrule 7 is formed to a cylindrical shape and has a through-hole corresponding to the outside diameter of the optical fiber 3 in its central part. The bore of the through-hole of the ferrule 7 is set so as to prevent the easy dislodgment of the optical fiber 3 from the ferrule 7 when the optical fiber 3 is inserted into the ferrule 7. After the optical fiber 3 is fixed to the ferrule 7, the ferrule 7 is connected to the prescribed adapter 9. The adapter 9 has a cylindrical outside diameter and the columnar recessed part 11 for fitting the ferrule 7 is formed therein.
