PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the control information rewritable disk drive device which uses universal constituent components and rewrites control information stored in ROM by a simple method. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a disk rotation drive part 3, the rewritable ROM 4 storing the control information, a universal interface 6 which is connected selectively to a host controller 10 arranged outside and sends/ receives data to/from the host controller 10 when connected, and a CPU 2 which controls the operation of respective parts according to the control information. When a control information rewrite command and new control information are supplied to the CPU 6 form the host controller 10 through the universal interface 6 while the universal interface 6 and host controller 10 are connected to each other, the CPU rewrites the control information stored in the rewritable ROM 4 into the new control information.
