PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for measuring imbalance of rotation of a sample in a short time by measuring imbalance of rotation even during acceleration or deceleration of rotation of the sample. SOLUTION: A filter 6 samples output from an oscillation detector 3 in relation to the rotational position signal of a sample 1 delivered from a rotational position detector 2. The content is filtered through a digital filter in order to obtain a waveform data containing an imbalance signal component even under a state where the rotational speed of the sample 1 is unsettled. Furthermore, a correction unit 7 corrects the filtered waveform data based on a speed data stored in relation to the rotational position signal thus producing a correct waveform data indicative of imbalance. Since the rotational speed of the sample is not required to be settled, imbalance can be measured in a short time.
